"Most Obviously"...
by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-
Mom Suzán
Most obviously
or maybe
almost single-
handedly
averting
glass ceilings
as mini-series
fizzling and flopping
at the very least
sun-bleached features
of shrieking devotees
constructing cushy digs
as all-too conniving
easily becoming mean
and denying turning
over new leaves
feeling naïve
while making jokes
out of everything
minus back stories
during seemingly
modern barrages
of dialogue
under the premises
of the present
coming down
to the hour
as slightly
scattered
throwbacks
being told to go
back to go...

Silhouetted
by Suzan Jivan
Interior lives
pincushions and scissors
stitching rictus grins
into juxtaposition
with evocative and vaguely
suspenseful emptinesses
darkly silhouetted.

Loop-by-loop
by Suzan Jivan
Eye-catching minutiae
under one roof
skein by skein
thread by thread
loop by loop
beyond the unproven
ruling of pinch-
waisted side seats
and elegantly tensile
love seats mixed in with
double-seated setees
for twice the intimacy.
Windswept
by Suzan Jivan
Exposing our own
always-known
older holdings
of monumental stones
worked up closely
and sharply-focused
within windswept connections.
Seeds
by Suzan Jivan
Seeds
of our
current needs
in late
summer weeks
vividly regal
floor-to-ceiling
masterpieces
of shaved ice
in subway rides
of genteel genres
into largess.
Pinwheels
by Suzan Jivan
Paper pinwheels in seraphim
vivid but peripheral artistic intimacy
of what we may never see
small isn't small after all.
Golden
by Suzan Jivan
Bathed in light
golden and honeyed
within city limits
a collection hidden
in deficits of prowess
weight-lifted acrobats
tumble and balance
somersault and flex
within lordly halls'
versions of awesome.
